Hello, I'm Sam and I'm an amateur woodworker

Hi everyone,

I’ve recently had fun building a bespoke TV unit for my living room and now I want to do more woodwork projects! Next project is a wine rack.

Buying wood that’s planed/ cut to size online is expensive - I’d like to use reclaimed materials and cut them myself for future projects. So i’ll be keen to use the table saw and other bits in the dusty room.

I’m planning to come down next Wednesday (17th) to say hello.

Hope to meet you all soon.

No problem , as long as you are good at finding nails and fix the blades we you bugger them .

Wich dose happen from time to time when you use second hand wood .

Noted! I’ll be very careful!

So @woodtechs what’s the situation with using reclaimed timber? This issue will come up often.

I know that was a joke about users fixing blades, but it raises an important issue. What’s a workable solution?

Not a joke , find the nails and remove and plane with electric hand plan and then if there’s any hidden nails the blade is down to you .

Until I have Time to make a mettle detection.

I would expect users of second hand wood to throw into the blade kitty but that’s it

Can we just buy one they are so cheap online

Sounds like a good solution

I’ve posted links to a small hand held metal defector when it’s on offer from Rutland before. Less than £20.
