Hi Francesca,

Welcome to our community. Our [Lasercutter](https://discourse.southlondonmakerspace.org/t/laser-cutter-trotec-speedy-300/14) will be very useful for your project. It makes really clean cuts on acrylic and they are highly accurate, so for inlays and such this should work very well. I’m not an expert though, but from your sketch, it looks like you could achieve that at SLMS.

I just randomly picked these from posts here on Discourse:

It’s not perfect (there are some glue marks you can see and it took longer then it should have), but I’m pretty happy with the result. The one on the left is a broach, and the one on the right is a hair clip.

I either want to have white/clear-frosted acrylic so I can have the ability to use colour-changing LED strips or coloured acrylic so I can use a standard white LED. I will want this to be inlayed into 5-10mm thick ply and the sign will be probably 500x400mm (enough to fit in the Trotec), which I might stain, paint or even engrave some design. I would box the signs up so the dept…

Here’s a [list](https://discourse.southlondonmakerspace.org/c/tools) of all our tools.

I would highly recommend to come to an [Open Evening](https://discourse.southlondonmakerspace.org/t/open-evening-may-31st-7pm-9pm/27402) and check out the space for yourself. The next one will be on [Wednesday, May 31st from 7pm-9pm](https://discourse.southlondonmakerspace.org/t/open-evening-may-31st-7pm-9pm/27402). No reservation needed, just come.

See you at the Makerspace,
Mark
