I’m not officially a member and apologise if this is totally the wrong section for this kind of thing. I basically have an overflowing collection of various crafts including fabric, books, yarn to name a few and I would like to pass it on to a good home as I have zero space to store it as much as I would love to keep it.
Would makespace, or any individuals be interested in having my stash? Some of the books include making bags, home sewing and some craft magazines. As well as metres of printed fabrics, wool, vintage patterns, sequins, beads, bead wire, coloured zips, graffiti paint etc.
There would be more like 4 carry bags, potentially more but I know space is
an issue so I’m trying off load in different spaces, I actually have about
3 or more bin liners currently stored in boxes and bags.
Lets see what others think, but part of the issue is there’s been no one really driving the textiles area who would be the main people to ask given the materials.
sounds ok to me. and theres some room for that in the textiles area in the snug at the moment.
we dont have much material at the moment.
i think it would be a good idea.
Have you considered a textile/sewing group. I’ve started one similar in Hackney, it’s been slow but picking up speed now. I do so a skill is learnt each week which can be applied to garment m. So for example make a top skill = bias binding insertion. Group pay a sub access to materials required for project.
My instinct is we should take it, and appraise regularly whether we want to keep it, based on how useful members find it, and how much we are desperate for storage space.
In the past the ‘snug’ has been a bit on the damp side, but doesn’t seem too bad at the moment?
