Heat gun?

I’m going to need to apply some controlled heat soon (bending acrylic). Do we have a heat gun? If not, I think we should get one.

yeah, sounds like a good plan. I’ve needed to use one for something in the past and it would have been good if the space had one.

We have the hot air rework which is a bit more controlled.

I 3rd that! Have found a way to ‘polish’ Perspex edges with a heat gun!

I was thinking something a bit more robust and knockabout for the messy workshop?

Do it, we’ve got this one at work:

Perfect.

For that the electronic heat gun is PERFECT

Very useful

yes! several people have been asking if there was one around (including myself)

That’s enough consenting voices I think! I’ll put the order in.

Did the heatgun arrive yet, anybody know?

Yes it arrived and is on a shelf under the 3D printer

Sorry, thought I’d notified this thread!

Fabulous, thanks. I’d really like to bend/shape Perspex too - have done with boiling water but it’s very limited. Are you experimenting? It’d be good to do that together if you’re up for it?

Haven’t done mine yet, but my research indicates that the “low” heat setting on this gun should be perfect for perspex.

I’ll be in tomorrow at some point for a few hours. Can’t say exactly when…

Am away tomorrow and sunday, maybe some other time? Be good to let’s know how it’s working for you as I don’t know anyone else who’s done this. Thanks for the heat setting tip.
