Glueing Plywood to Acrylic - then lasering it

Hi everyone!

I’m making a boardgame and I thought the main pieces that I’ve lasered out of plywood (4 x 4cm tiles) are looking a little shabby. And then I thought, hey it’d be nice to laminate a sheet of clear acrylic and some plywood together, then laser cut the tiles out.

Does anyone have any advice / warnings on doing this with the laser? I imagine glue and laser heat arent the friendliest of companions…

Epoxy will glue ply to acrylic. You’d have to check on the implications of vapourising epoxy though.

It’s not a thermoplastic, so I imagine it would end badly.

Why not varnish the tiles?
