I don’t think this is being ignored Paul, I think it just isn’t needed, there are now 10 computers in the space most of them are suitable as it is, and the laser cutter computer could easily be swapped round.
Yeah the laser machine is pretty beastly, and doesn’t need to be.
When I put together a PC for the sewing area the first two didn’t work.
Third one was lucky.
Don’t know about the rest but are they actually usable?
They seem old and not in great condition.
Are they up to spec for CAD and other high end stuff.
Looked like most didn’t have Windows on them.
We have the money to buy a great new toy.
Let’s do it.
The benefits are clear.
We should definitely work through them all and scrap any of the junk that isn’t working. Maybe then worth a quick reassess to see if we have something up to the job? The laser PC is more than capable for what we want here
The issue is likely you picked up ones that were not tested yet, the plan was to scrap parts from half into the other half.
However the ones labeled SLMS-1-4 or something like that are tested with working copies of OS on them.
The Laser Cutter computer as @tomnewsom said is up to the CAD job so it would be best swapped out from Laser Duty with another machine.
This was my intention but I got bogged down with the Membership System and I am no longer actively involved in the space, even before this @systems was in need of more helpers.
No longer actively involved in the space. So you’re no longer in the @systems group but still a member?
Does this need a recruitment drive? What do the tasks involve?
Would it be an idea to have information in the space so people knew where they could lend their skills or upskill. For example advertising the need for more @roles? What the role would involve etc.
Yes. We’re in the middle of looking at the roles, and where we have openings for members to get involved.
Any one got any more thoughts on this?? The old one doesn’t seem that reliable.
The general PC crashed again today.
There was a problem with the RAM.
But the old IT trick of taking the RAM out and putting it back in cleared it up.
