Doorbell Project

@members Who want’s to take on project Doorbell?

It’s a simple job, we need a 24V power adapter, bell wire and the fire bell on the table…

And a button outside, wired up so that it rings in the Wood Workshop.

Who wants to own this project?

Simple?

Very.

Simple if you run wires on the surface. Doubt that would go down well.

Yeah but feeding a cable round behind the panels isn’t that tricky. It’s a project but it’s doable.

Should this not ring in all areas of the space?

The idea is if it rings in the Wood Workshop it will be heard throughout as it’s quite loud.

Easy enough to test once the soundproofing is done round the doors.

EDIT: doubt it would be heard in the snug!

The snug isn’t an occupied space, it’s a cupboard.

I don’t quite understand the logic of this approach.

A bell that’s loud enough would be very annoying, especially if you’re working with hand tools and with no ear defenders on.

A flashing light would be effective even with the table saw operating.

I guess this has all been discussed in the space?

Are you have a joke, this is ridiculous.

You want a silent door bell?

The whole point is that when someone comes to the door you need to answer it, regardless of it being noisy or quiet it will be annoying.

I don’t see it being so loud that you will be deafened, but the messy workshop is not exactly sound proof either.

Why would I be joking?

If the bell is in the dusty workshop and someone is using the table saw, then no one will hear it anywhere in the space.

That’s how it seems to me.

I think that remains to be seen, but folks try it out.

That didn’t come across too well.

I am being honest, I couldn’t tell if you were making a joke.

The idea of having a doorbell that is silent because it might be annoying… clearly we just try the bell see what it is like and if it is audible…

It came across like you were suggesting my opinion was ridiculous, that’s all.

This seems more like a predefined job request than a project.

Projects involve requirement gathering, finding out what stack holders want, and consulting with those that will be effected. This is done to promote inclusiveness and ownership.

There are no constraints if someone wants to do something different that’s fine but there is a bell we may as well use.

The brief is just based on things we looked at in the space.

People have endlessly said to help out people take the load off me doing so much stuff so I am trying to hand something over.

Just pick one guys!
