Donation to the space - Mill and acrylic

Chap called Jonathan just walked in and offered to donate:

Acrylic 2x.5 acrylic 5 x 5mm sheets
Sieg X1 Mill with longer bed, bolted to worktop
laser printer - b&w, working

What do we want? he can arrange delivery if we let him know by tomorrow, he’s moving house at the weekend. I have his contact details, asked him to join discourse.

He said ‘its dirty but it works’, then started talking about the components in the print as though in his mind, he’s all ready taken it apart… Take from that what you will, let me know if you want it. He did say he had two.

Jonathan was very enthusiastic about the space and will hopefully join soon - makes water sculptures for a living, and was part of the team that designed the water fountains thing at Kings Cross, did the choreography. Aperently you can play pong ‘on’ / 'with?/ the fountain, using your mobile as a controller…!

I’ll tell him we’ll take the acrylic and Mill and that we can pick up if needs be, if he takes us up on that I’ll give him your number @joeatkin2 if that’s OK?

He said he’d been before. I imagine moving house is keeping him busy but hope he joins soon after, design a water fountain sounds fun.

Yes. I remember Jonathan! He was a regular at the weekly pub meetups just before we got the arch.

Hi All

Thanks for welcome – yes, used to come to the pub before you got the arch (hi Tom, Tom, Dermot, hope you’re well). Am moving house and losing my own work space, so trying to put a few things into good hands.

Just a note:

  • Acrylic straight gift to group (4 sq metres! 5mm thick!)
  • Mill/bench indefinite loan.
  • Printer straight gift to anyone who wants it (Peter Hellyer has first dibs.) It’s HP 12320N: bw/a4/ethernet/postscript, works fine but a little messy toner. Not disassembled: but these printers have a fantastic regulated motor with a prism, also excellent front surface mirrors, fab for making laser projectors.) X
  • Also have for giveaway a number of Cisco Wifi access points (AIR AP1231G-E-K9), very high quality 801.11b/g, free for caffè sospeso. Suit learning about Cisco IOS or perhaps we should build South London Freifunk? X
  • Also for giveaway a number of Avaya 24-port 10/100 ether switches with Power Over Ethernet. X
  • Also for giveaway an HP 1-U server, powerful loud fans, very ordinary CPU etc, but super reliable. Suit DNS/web server or similar or just for experiments.

I’ll liaise with Joe about getting mill and acrylic to the space; let me know if anybody wants any of the other things.

EDIT Thursday 1345: I spoke with @joeatkin2 , we’re going to bring the things on Saturday at some point. @peter_hellyer I have you for printer + server, @Courty I have you for some APs and switches, @unknowndomain will have some APs + switches for the space.
