Does SLMS use social media?

I know SLMS is on Twitter and a few other social media platforms but is there someone who posts on a regular basis?

It would be a great way to market the space and build a brand.

Yes, we have twitter and facebook accounts and the @marketing people take care of them. There’s also a mailing list which gets sent out semi-regularly. We have a blog too, for more long-form content but it hasn’t been used much recently.

ah okay, I don’t know because I don’t really check but do you post about the development of the space? The phase 2 developments, events going on, projects people are doing etc?

Yes :slightly_smiling:

This is our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/SouthLondonMakerspace/

And we are @LDN_Makerspace on twitter.

And we have a thread on Discource where we log what we’ve done. https://discourse.southlondonmakerspace.org/t/activity-log/1346/2

There’s always more we could be doing though - @cjjharries let us know if you want to get involved.

I think the log is limited to @marketing and trustees.

And to say – being private wasn’t the idea, part of the idea is to expose what goes on behind the scenes. But it’s how it is at the moment because that was easiest and first things first…

If the @marketing all agree then it should be made visible to members.

If all marketing campaigns were private the world would be a better place.

Just saying

Completely agree @Dermot

Looks good as it is, although maybe getting an Instagram following would be a good idea.

By the way it looks like we’ve got 2 SLMS Twitter profiles
Current - https://twitter.com/LDN_Makerspace
Old/spelled wrong - https://twitter.com/LDN_Makerspaec

That other one is a spam bot of some kind. I’m reporting it to twitter now.

Old spambot must have caught wind of ask our talk about dyslexia.

Well spotted!

Yes you’re right re Instagram. I’ve been meaning to create one and connect it to the FB and Twitter accounts. we have Flickr also so just have to figure out how to link them / manage any duplication.
