Agreed. Given it needs a table it also needs consideration for the footprint (the other can be tucked underneath to create space)
But maybe @textilestechs @lasertechs and @silkscreentechs can let us know if there’s a spot this could live
Apparently it’ll do a few hundred pages at once and could be fabulous for trimming book blocks
*correction, it looks like the legs detach so maybe this could also live under the table as well

Our current one is too small to really be useful and won’t do books. If this can do either it would be great but we don’t have enough space in printmaking as it is.
I would love it if we can trim books though, I could even do a bookbinding course if anyone is interested.

So yes, sorry to be clear. We do need it but we also have nowhere to put it currently…

As much as I love free toys sadly I can’t think of a good reason for it take up valuable room in the laser area.
Surely this can replace the current guillotine under one of the tables. This feels like a no brainer

This style of guillotine is a lot more functional than the one we have but it’s also a lot bigger in footprint. I don’t think it would fit under the current thing on wheels we have that doubles as a print making table. It could possibly go on top of the plan chest but I don’t know the dimensions off the top of my head and that currently has the deeply underutilised t-shirt carousel on it.
Could also live on top of the PCs, under the textiles cutting mat table, next to electronics?
Even if we don’t have a place for it immediately I really think it would substantially add to the print making space if we can fit it in.

I’ve been talking with a quite a few members over the past few months and also with @silkscreentechs
There’s quite a lot of interest in more booking binding equipment in the space and I’m in the process of setting up some booking binding and print skills events and workshops (with the help of several members who have volunteered to share their skills)
I agree with the vast majority here that it would be a fantastic and useful addition to the space, if I can somehow help in the effort to find space for it please let me know. Could we find a temporary spot for it for now so that we don’t lose out?

If it seems valuable to people who will use it, and a space is likely to be found to set it up or store it permanently (perhaps space in textiles room, what’s happening with the eufy area?).
If you need a temporary spot to hold it til then, feel free to use the area behind the bike area that is currently lightly occupied, as we won’t be installing shelving there for a month to two.

I agree with this.
I still have some concerns to address with our contact at Eufy so the desk is unlikely to be used for the Eufy for at least another week or 2 (absolute minimum)
Could mean we have a place for it temporarily
@3dtechs would need to clear the non-Eufy items from the table and I can clear away the Eufy demo items etc if it’s agreed that this would be a good holding space.
I know they are working on the extraction and the 3d resin printers though so unsure if this might get in their way?
Personally I think it’s better to have a useable item there rather than just letting the clutter build up; it will mean there’s less to clear off once the Eufy and 3 d resin printers are back in action
The guillotine is at my workplace.
We are moving next week, hence the need to clear by Wednesday.
The company is / is going to list it on freecycle, so it would be good to make a decision on whether we want it.
I am available 8:15 to 4:30 weekdays to give anyone access to collect it.
Yea seems like a good upgrade! Who can get it?
