Hey all…
I have noticed that very often I find myself confused when I read discourse because I don’t connect the real person to the discourse nickname… And often I don’t reply to people just because I don’t feel confident and I fear to exchange someone for someone else.
What about asking everyone to set up a profile image where they are recognisable? Or even making it mandatory for joining discourse?
I think that would help everyone in an incredible way!
Real names would certainly help, and it’s pretty easy to go to your preferences and change it. Some people do prefer to keep their real names off the internet though, so I don’t think we can make it compulsory.
No I’m talking about profile picture… real names help just a bit… when I joined it took me almost 2 months to remember yours… hahaha
Some degree of ‘this is a real name service’ wouldn’t be terribly unusual on the modern interwebs
Close to unenforceable, even on the members database people have not always used their names.
We need to contact those members and ask them to fix this
Stefano was asking about pictures.
The idea has crossover with a photo booth idea, which I’m still up for. Would be nice to have a wall of 122 faces somewhere. Its a security issue i think not having a record of what key holders look like. What other info do we have, address, telephone number? You might find we’re uninsured not having those details? Maybe, I’m making this up from thin air but sounds reasonable…
