Dates for MakeTheSpace Easter specials?

Yes, the grant deadline is more of an issue for the tool purchases. The construction materials are almost all bought and paid for already

Thats my queue for an extended rant. While I agree there will always be some people concetrated on certain projects out of choice or skillset, my whole ethos for joining a makerspace, using linux etc is becuase distributed systems are better then cetralised ones.
A small number of people doing most of the work is risky in some ways, and my years of living in hosuing coops have told me a decent overall involvement is better for long term prospects.
I think we have become an organisation incredibly dependent on a few people.
And while there have been alot of new faces recently, I think it will take a concious decision and action to reverse this pretty heavy dependency on key people.
I dont include myself in this cos I only do Saturdays, which is a deliberate decision.
My reputation as the guy who bugs new people to get involved comes from this, but the fact that I have a reputation for doing this, points to the fact that other people (apart from maybe Pete I think) don’t make the ask that often.
I personally would like to see senior/estabhlised member and trustees being a bit more proactive on this, as well as other members. Responsibilites and exppectations should be explained to new members as a perrequisite of joining, or maybemy idea is different to others…

rant over
thanks

Hi @forepeople - does this mean I can add the following dates/times:

Please confirm so I can send out newsletter.

Saturday from 11 for me. Safety briefing at 11.

I need to be on and out a bit on Thursday, so maybe easier not to advertise. Sorry!

hey guys, im no good for staurday, i just felt my failed efforts at getting the Dermot Jones Mermorial Arch changed to the Conor O’ Meara Wall of Suffering, mean I’m out.
Actually in reality I need to do some professional training, and I start a new job on Tuesday. So I expect im out of action for a few weeks at least, but Ill try and get down if I can

There has been great progress tonight, the lighting has been wired up properly with seperate switching for each bank of lights to give more control over the room brightness. The e-stops and double sockets are in on the now fully clad wall…

While in the messy workshop the lighting units went up and all we need to buy is a few bits from Screwfix to get them in as well. Another job is to get the sound insulating material up into the roof bit, and clad the fire exit wall with Ply.

REMEMBER there are now LIVE ELECTRICS inside the wall.

Amazing to see, I was wondering where that Indie band photographer went when the nineties ended, is this the SLMS band?

true, but Joe looked suitably dour, and Pete was striking a very avant garde (circa 1994) looking into distance pose.
They’ll prob drop the other two once they first album does well

More great work  thanks all!

My question is: how do we make that ply not look like temporary hoarding? Or is it ‘the look’ we need?

I quite like the look. Rough and ready.

Sandpaper and paint

A collage?

First we have to have the grand OCD debate about how to fix the ply to the wall …

yeah, paint is easy
