Not sure what you mean by masks, but anyone can buy paper and just claim it back from @tomnewsom.
ppe masks.
I don’t always have cash. As in broke not too lazy to go the cash point.
I’m sure I’m not the only one.
I think it would be nicer and easier to have cash in there. Don’t really see why this isn’t a good idea.
It would make life a lot easier.
You just put the receipt in the box.
I don’t think it is a good idea to have cash laying about the space and have been suggesting for a while we build a locked donations box to replace this and take Laser cutter payments digitally.
I think another solution needs to be found.
How about: Locked box with a doorbot on it. Prepaid debit card inside.
I think it’s fine.
It facilitates an atmosphere of trust, and responsibility.
It’s ridiculous we can’t by toilet paper or washing up sponges without a formal process.
No one is going to steel money out the box and who wants to be in a place that assumes everyone is a theif?
Oh well. That’s that done with then.
Nothing’s been decided yet
You need to stop being so defensive when someone has a different opinion to you Paul, just because I didn’t agree with you doesn’t mean anything other than that I didn’t agree, there is no decision made.
Oh please. You need to stop being so negative, obstructive and micro managing everything.
It is not normal for a business to entrust anyone who enters its premises with cash, and it’s yet another administrative task to actually keep track of this money being spent, and as it has no access control there is no accountability for it if it does go missing.
I agree a debit card would be a simple solution, or just more planning ahead, there isn’t going to be a formal process, it will be that Tom who is the treasurer effectively now, will need to buy stuff.
Seeing as my physical space visits are quite limited, I’m happy to leave a small amount of cash in the bucket for now. It’s not a long-term solution though.
Makes sense.
Thanks.
Happy to help with a long term plan.
Pre paid debit card sounds good.
What’s a doorbot?
How about a little box with a touch pad thingy.
Like the key one out side.
Do we want a wall mounted one?
There’s those ones for holding keys with combi lock for a tenner on eBay.
If you want Kilner jars, I have a load spare. Let me know.
That would be amazing!
What kind of size are they?
Would they suit tea, coffee, sugar in reasonable quantity and cutlery?
Exactly what I meant
I’ll dig out and post a pic.

I’ve moved the post into Discussion, as the Infrastructure thread is just for wiki content.
NO I hate the place
