@members to make the posters for the general waste and recycling bins easier to read, we need someone who can draw on the computer or by hand something to help communicate what can and can’t be recycled.
It’s nice and simple like you’ve done it.
Job finished.
No need for pics.
Next.
(Just my opinion)
Hi Tom I also think they look good as they as they are, nice bright branding. Kind regards, Jonathan.

Could add a green thing like this https://simple.wikipedia.org/wiki/Recycling#/media/File:Recycle001.svg
Hi Tom,
I’m up for it, will come in on the Monday eve and knock some posters up!
Just for clarity: these are to go on the bins? We have an A4 laminator in the space.
@SarahJ Is in the process of finding us some forever bins as the cardboard ones and the plastic ones we have are looking pretty dead.
I am not sure if you mean illustrations or a new design?
Hi Tom,
Posters, illustrations, whatever we need. See you on Monday? Anyone else
around that eve?
Hi these might be a good option for new bins:
https://www.greenwarehouse.co.uk/ubin/
Otherwise the options seem to be cheapo thin plastic ones like the ones we already have for around £10 each, or super fancy metal ones at around £100 each.
This is an option if we want fancy metal: http://www.caboodle.co.uk/facilities-supplies/bins-bin-bags/sack-holders/pedal-op-sack-holder-f-s-17l-fs2001-330306/
Those ubins are pretty nice, pricey though. That said, they’d probably last for years, whereas we’d be constantly throwing 10 quid crappy bins away.
Yes that’s what I thought too. And they look quite cool and have good environmental credentials.
Seems pretty expensive when you realise we need 4 of them at least.
Weren’t the bins largely casualties of construction work?
Possibly. Unsure.
Probably. Maybe we should just get some new £10 ones and try not to destroy them.
What about these? MP Essentials Indoor & Outdoor Folding Compact Snap Together Eco Rubbish Waste Bin + Liners https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00B5CPQV0/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_wM8MxbRNEXGT9
The fact that you can see which bin bag is in it means it should be easier to put the right stuff in the right ones.
Although it might be a bit revolting to have all the rubbish on display through the see-through bags.
They are white bags tbf.
Yes but I think it might still look a bit gross with food inside.
What about these? We would have to make an effort not to break them as it’s probably quite thin plastic but they come in black and red to match the first mile liner writing. It’s the bargain option so we could get three of each.

In general I think we should go for full bins with sides rather than those frames, which whilst they look nice, rely solely on the bag for supporting the rubbish. I sort of imagine sticking something unusual shaped into one of those and ripping straight through the bag; which probably wouldn’t happen in a full bin.
Quite like the tescos ones though, we could do some kind of customisation to make it clear which bin is which.
As a side point, I’m working on a device for passive aggressively persuading my flatmate to take the bins out. It involves an arduino, a load cell and a fire alarm sounder.
Ild say plus one on the ubin.
There others look naff esp the Amazon one with no sides.
I don’t think the price is that high for Makerspace.
I couldn’t pay that much as an individual but I think collectively as Makerspace we can afford it. When thinking about purchases for the space I try not to compare the price to things I can afford as an individual because that’s not a true reflection of our needs or buying power as a collective organisation.
Theyre an investment. They’ll last ages. They’ll make us feel good. And they look great. They’ll prob save money in long run. And. They will support a company that’s actually re using plastic. V inportant issue.
where do we want Makerspace money going? Local? Politically correct? Sustainable? Or tesco and IKEA?
There’s a lot to compromise on money that is available and worth investing well.
Can we buy one and trial?
