You might have seen me wandering around with a few bits of wood recently.
So I thought I would post the finished product.
It started as a few bits of ash and walnut I found on ebay.
I had the idea for a book stand after seeing this online
@lewisss kindly helped by splitting them length ways on the table saw.
After some planing and clamping I managed to have two laminated boards which were surprisingly flat.
@lewisss stepped in again and put them through the planer which saved me hours of sanding
some rough napkin measurements, some cuts and some more gluing. I just needed to put a slot in.
@lewisss helped again showing me how to use the router (he pretty much did the whole project )
I didn’t know what finish to use on it, I wanted to make the grain pop out but because its ash and walnut I couldn’t use anything with a dye.
I also wanted a matte finish. I ended up using some beewax as its what I had at home, from Ikea
I think the finish worked well the the end product actually works as expected.
Big thanks for all the help @lewisss!!
