Book stand

You might have seen me wandering around with a few bits of wood recently.
So I thought I would post the finished product.

It started as a few bits of ash and walnut I found on ebay.

I had the idea for a book stand after seeing this online

@lewisss kindly helped by splitting them length ways on the table saw.

After some planing and clamping I managed to have two laminated boards which were surprisingly flat.

@lewisss stepped in again and put them through the planer which saved me hours of sanding :slight_smile:

some rough napkin measurements, some cuts and some more gluing. I just needed to put a slot in.

@lewisss helped again showing me how to use the router (he pretty much did the whole project :slight_smile: )

I didn’t know what finish to use on it, I wanted to make the grain pop out but because its ash and walnut I couldn’t use anything with a dye.
I also wanted a matte finish. I ended up using some beewax as its what I had at home, from Ikea
I think the finish worked well the the end product actually works as expected.

It looks great. One thing though… are you storing your toothbrush in the your kitchen?!
