I have cut an 80mm length of stud for the shaft of the angle handle lock knob which would not fit into the mounting due to a damaged thread.
I have recut the thread so all it needs is a knob on the end. So all we need some 3D printing expert to print a sexy looking knob!
Maybe with a Makerspace “M”?
In Makerspace red?
What size is the stud ? M10 was mentioned but not sure it was M10 in the end
Courty
Yes, m10
Cool, I’ll cad a knob up then !
Anyone got the Vector file for the Maker ‘M’ ? @tomnewsom ?
Courty
awesome, ta muchly

Spokes would be better. a + or * shape for example is easier to grip and apply a decent amount of torque
I was thinking that you don’t want too much purchase on the handle as a) its only plastic and b) you shouldn’t need much pressure to bring the lock on - most machine locks I’ve used are round for these sort of reasons.
If were going for a more powerful design, we probably need to machine it out of ali alloy or steel rather than print in PLA or ABS.
Will have a look on Thurs to see how much pressure it takes to bring on the lock safely and we can make a call then.
Courty
Yeah, just my idle thoughts really This is absolutely an on-site decision.
If we are making this out of plastic you could lock two bolts on the end and then fit this over the end of them?
Also why not use the Makerspace logo?
We are absolutely going to use the Makerspace logo but on my work PC I couldn’t get the file Tom gave me to import to the CAD program (I can open it elsewhere so not a file issue)
the final design is Defo a subject for a tea and debate session around the saw on Thursday

You can lock the angle adjuster with finger pressure on the bare screw thread.
If you make a knob capable of applying serious torque without breaking, all you are doing is overloading the bearing of the angle adjustment bearing and running the danger of stripping the thread the locking device screws into.
I like your second version.
Gave the 3D printer a run out tonight and printed a copy of the mkii lock knob.
@frasco cut the rod to length and it went into the M10 rod a treat, works perfectly
Will see if we can get some red PLA to print a proper SLMS version, the transparent is great but it needs colour.
Courty
Jaw droppingly awesome!
