3d printing gizmo

I’ve just wasted an hour looking at this https://ytec3d.com/plan-b/ and I’m convinced its a good idea to try and build one.

Anyone want to either a) talk me down, or b) join in?

I’d be up for that.

I’d be up for helping! totally new to 3D printing - just seems like a fun challenge…

Aha! Squirting the binder in, using inkjet heads. Neat.

What that video skips is getting the sunk-in-the-bed-of-powder bound model out. How do you that without breaking the piece, or at least not making a mess?

From this video, turns out you just make a mess

I’ll be in Wednesday 19th if anyone would like to have a chat about this after open evening?
I think I have most of the electronics, connectors, etc, and can 3D print the parts.
If we substitute the aluminium with 3mm ply for a proof of concept I think this could be done fairly quickly?

Yeah, I’m keen!

Cool! Shall we say Wednesday 19th 21:00h - open evening should be finished by then?

I wonder if UV activated glue might work Permabond UV610 UV Cured Adhesive, 50 mL https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B019MKXQHC/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_mfLzzbMRNABMN

Also maybe move the entire block of powder to an enclosure and blow all the powder away.

I have an old dyson hand dryer - always thought the digital turbine blower and some shaped channels would be good to blow debris towards a vacuum extraction in a corner.

If nothing else taking the dyson handryer apart is an interesting activity . Happy to bring it along.

David

Bump… Shall we have a go at sourcing the materials?

If the interest is still there I can start printing this weekend.
